Making a donation in memory is a wonderful way to remember a loved one while helping to support our work. After taking care of your loved ones in your Will, please consider leaving a gift to Thomley. No matter how large or small you can rest assured that you’ll be helping disabled children and their families.
You might consider asking for donations in lieu of flowers, or having a collection at the funeral, or you may wish to create a JustGiving page as a tribute to your loved one and raise online donations in their memory.
We really appreciate your support, so we’d like to reassure you of a few things.
- Your loved ones come first
- We won’t put you under pressure
- We’ll use your gift respectfully and wisely
- You don’t have to tell us of your decision, as we respect your right to privacy
- If you’d like your gift to be spent on a particular part of Thomley then please let us. You’re also very welcome to come and visit us so that you can see our vital work at first hand.
Why write a Will?
A Will gives you the peace of mind that the people and organisations you wish to benefit from your life will do so. It also means your loved ones have fewer decisions to make after you’re gone.
We strongly recommend you visit a solicitor to ensure that your wishes for your family and other beneficiaries are clear.
If you already have an up-to-date Will and you’d like to leave us a gift, simply fill in a codicil form in the presence of two witnesses and ask your solicitor to keep it with your Will.

We Remember…
Kai Smith – We were very sad to say goodbye to Kai Smith who died on 18th October 2014 from an epilepsy-related seizure at only twelve years of age. All of us at Thomley were honored to have known such the gorgeous smiley boy.
Despite their grief, Kai’s family fundraised for a wheelchair swing in his memory. It brings us all great joy to see the swing enjoyed by so many of our visitors both young and old. Josh, pictured here, spends many happy hours on the swing & benefits greatly from it.
Peter Rowsell – Our former landlord is remembered with great fondness by Trustees, staff and families. Thomley owes its existence to the extreme generosity and vision of Peter and his wife Grizelda who lived on the farm since the 1960s. Over the past 50 years, Peter and Grizelda have availed this peaceful corner of countryside for disadvantaged children. Sadly Peter passed away on 23rd December 2012 leaving behind his wife Grizelda and three children Claire, Tim and Juliet. We hope that the flourishing center will remain a legacy of both Peter and Grizelda’s charitable spirit long into the future.
Phil Coles – The late husband of one of our founding trustees Wendi. Due to the limited provision Wendi and Phil found available for their son Matthew who has autism and severe epilepsy, Wendi became one of the founding Trustees of the charity. Sadly, Phil passed away on 17th February 2012.
Sheila Coates – Sheila was one of the founding Trustees of Thomley and, together with other Trustees, played an active role in setting up the center, promoting its development and supporting its valuable ethos. In Sheila’s words “I am committed to the concept of providing equal access for children and young people to experience adventure, opportunity, freedom and managed risk”. We remember Sheila fondly, who passed away on 27th October 2010.
