I grew up in the states with a brother who was oxygen deprived at birth resulting in him having learning impairments. At the time the wisdom was that he would never develop and he should be put in an institution. He did go to special schools and is now living in a semi-independent house and attends a sheltered workshop. This has had an influence on the direction of my career. I am a qualified Social Worker and have over 20 years experience of working with children/young people and adults in the public, private and charity sector.
I have a passion for supporting people to develop their skills to become active members of their local and wider community.
I saw Thomley as a setting where I could use my skills and passions to influence and guide the next phase of development for the charity. As the Chief Executive Officer I will be engaging with staff and visitors in developing the business plan to support future development.
Outside of work I relax by mountain and road biking, skiing, playing the clarinet, spending time with the family and eating!
